The all new 2012 Chevy Sonic is loaded with technology, safety features, and good looks. It replaces the outgoing Chevy Aveo as the sub-compact car in the Chevy lineup. It's a much more aggressive looking car, with fierce design elements and a stance that's always prepared to accelerate. The Sonic should be a hit with consumers when it lands on the lot.

Like its predecessor the Aveo, Chevy Sonic comes in two versions: a 5 door hatchback and a four door sedan. Unlike its predecessor, the interior has been completely redesigned and refined. It's now stylish, sleek, and befitting of modern standards and expectations, with a dash of motorcycle influence thrown in for good measure. Driving will be a joy for you and your passengers. There's more back seat room than before and more room than the competition, including the Ford Fiesta.

Like its bigger brother the Chevy Cruze, the Sonic will have a whopping 10 airbags. Small shouldn't mean you have to sacrifice safety. The Sonic also shares the same engine options as the Cruze. You can either pick a 1.8-liter four cylinder connected to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, or a 1.4-liter turbocharged with 138 horsepower in either automatic or manual with six forward ratios. The Sonic has more horsepower than its competition, including the Fiesta.

Chevrolet is issuing a challenge to its competitors with its new vehicles, and it looks to shatter the pre-existing notions people hold about sub-compact cars. Corvette engineers were responsible for the ride and handling of the vehicle, so expect something more fun to drive than your typical sub-compact car. Which is typically not fun to drive.

General Motors' plant in Orion Township in Michigan will be building the Sonic. That's right, the Sonic will be assembled here in America. The Chevy Sonic will be arriving at our dealership sometime in fall 2011.
